Movement due to Growth in Plants

Movement due to growth: Plants respond to stimuli by growing in a particular direction. This growth is directional due to which the plant appears moving. Some plants like pea, pumpkin and cucumber plant climb up on other plants or fences by means of tendrils, which are sensitive to touch. When these tendrils come in contact with any support, the part of tendril in contact with the object does not grow as rapidly as the part of the tendril away from the object. This causes the tendril to circle around the object and thus, cling to it. There are two types of movements shown by plants: Tropic movement and Nastic movements

Movement related to growthMovement other than growth
A germinating seed give rise to shoot and a root. The shoot moves upward whereas the root has the tendency to move downward in the direction of gravity. If you touch the leaves of Mimosa pudica the leaves droop inwards. This has nothing to do with the growth .
These movements are directional. These movements are non directional.
These movements are permanent movements. These movements are temporary movements.
These movements are called as tropic movements. These movements are called as Nastic movements.
